How it works

Once Upon a Nurse follows the life journey of a villager who decides to become a nurse, filled with fairytale humor and moments every nurse will recognize and love. You can edit everything, adding names and details that make it that much more special to your nurse.

Each day, you surprise them with another chapter. Some people email the chapter each morning, while others leave it on the breakfast table, tuck it into a lunch bag, or surprise them with it after a long shift.

Each chapter includes a short note you can easily personalize for your nurse. The note connects to that day’s chapter and lets you thank them for moments every nurse goes through, but no one was there to thank them for at the time. For many nurses, hearing those words for what they thought nobody noticed, or what they had quietly been carrying, can mean more than you might expect, and make the week incredibly special.

The story carries the week, but each day also gives you the perfect excuse to add optional small treats if you so desire. We’ve included ideas that correspond to the chapters and work whether you’re nearby (like breakfast waiting in the morning) or far away (like e-cards or digital gifts). Together with the story, they create a week of appreciation your nurse will never forget.

It’s Simple:

• Print or email two short chapters each day (one morning, one evening).
